Installation Guide for LMS: Blackboard

Instructions for installing as an LTI 1.3 tool.

Overview

SmarterProctoring is added as an external tool LTI tool using the standard LTI 1.3 functionality within Blackboard.

In this article, you will complete the following:

  • Installation of the SmarterProctoring LTI Tool

  • Link your Blackboard instance to your SmarterProctoring account

Install SmarterProctoring LTI Tool

  1. Navigate to Administrator Tools > LTI Tool Providers

  2. Click Register LTI 1.3/Advantage Tool

  3. When prompted, enter the Client ID as:

    d354f537-a5de-4669-b07f-729079fc2eb4

  4. Complete the form with the following information:

    1. User Fields to Send (select these):

      1. Role in Course

      2. Name

      3. Email Address

    2. Allow grade service access: No

    3. Allow Membership Service Access: No

    4. Show User Acknowledgment Message: No

  5. Click Submit

Connect Blackboard Instance to SmarterProctoring

After registering the LTI tool (previous section) you will need to link your instance of Blackboard to your SmarterProctoring account.

  1. Navigate to the Administrator Tools panel in Blackboard

  2. Under Tools and Utilities, click the SmarterServices option.

  3. You will be prompted to add your SmarterServices Integration ID. Add that to the proper field and click Link & Continue. If you do not have your integration id you can follow the steps in the section below to obtain it.

At this point your Blackboard instance is setup and ready for use with SmarterProctoring.

Obtaining your SmarterProctoring Integration ID

SmarterProctoring integration ids can be obtained via the SmarterProctoring administrative area, to login to your account and locate your keys please follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to your SmarterProctoring administrative area in your browser. Your SmarterProctoring administrator was provided your account special administrative area URL. If you do not have this information please contact them.

  2. Enter your username and password and click Login.

  3. Once logged in, click your name in the upper right, then click Integration Settings.

  4. Find the integration that you wish to connect, typically there will only be one integration.

  5. The Integration ID will be listed in the first column and starts with II.
