Overview
Proctors can now monitor both test taker and proctor connection health directly within the Virtual Test Center (VTC). This feature provides real-time visibility into connection quality using intuitive status icons, helping proctors quickly assess session stability and respond to potential issues.

The difference between connection statuses
How the connection status appears
Understanding Connection Statuses
The system evaluates connection health using multiple factors—such as speed, latency, jitter, and packet loss—through an internal media server algorithm. Based on this analysis, one of five connection states is displayed:
Excellent – No expected issues with data streaming between participants and media servers.
Good – Stable and acceptable performance; most sessions will fall into this range.
Poor – Connection is maintained, but video quality or performance may be impacted.
Lost – The connection has been disconnected, indicated by a red Wi-Fi icon with a slash.
Unknown – Not enough data is available to determine connection quality. This does not necessarily indicate a problem and is shown with a question mark icon.
How Connection Status Appears
Connection status reflects the combined quality of both the test taker’s and proctor’s connections, giving a more complete picture of overall session performance. For example:
Connection State | Visual Example |
Both the test taker and proctor connection are acceptable. The test taker connection is Good and the proctor connection is Excellent. |
|
The test taker connection is Lost, meaning they have disconnected, but the proctor connection is Excellent.
When the test taker connection is Lost, a “No tracks available” message will be shown as well since there are no media tracks for the tester. |
|
The test taker connection is Unknown at this time and the proctor connection is Good. |
