Overview

Session Playback allows instructors to review a student's full proctored exam recording after the session has ended and has a Closed Status. You can watch the recording, review AI-generated flags, view proctor notes and annotations, and share the session with another faculty member if needed.

Note: Session Playback is view-only. No edits can be made to the recording, flags, or session data from this view.

In this article, you will learn:

  • How to access a session playback

  • What you can see within the playback window

  • How to review Flags, Identification and Session Details

  • How to share a session

Accessing Session Playback

  1. Navigate to the Exam Details page for the relevant exam.

  2. Locate the student whose session you want to review.

  3. Click the action menu next to that student's entry and select View Session Details.

This will open the Session Playback viewer for that student's session.

What You'll See

a. Video recording

b. Flag markers

c. Phases

d. Filter menu

e. Timeline

Video Playback Details

  • The recording begins from the moment the student started screen sharing and ends when the session was ended.

  • Multiple camera views will be displayed (i.e. screen recording, webcam, and second camera - if enabled).

  • Click on any view to make it the primary (largest) display on the right.

  • Use the double arrow button to expand the video to full screen.

  • Use the dots between videos to click and drag in order to resize.

Timeline & Phases

  • A full video timeline is displayed below the player.

  • Flags appear as red markers below the timeline. Hovering over the marker will show you what behavior was flagged. You can click any flag to jump directly to that point in the recording.

  • The Phases timeline lets you quickly navigate to key moments in the session, such as the end of onboarding or the room scan.

Playback Speed

  • Adjust playback speed using the speed control.

  • Smart Speed is available — when enabled, playback will automatically slow down as it approaches a flagged moment, making it easier to review AI detections in context.

Reviewing Flags & Session Details

Click the chevron (›) below the timeline to expand the details panel. From here you can:

  • Session Info — General information about the session (student, exam, timing, etc.).

  • Identification — Details captured during the student identity verification process.

  • Flag Details — A breakdown of each flag, including:

    • AI-generated flag type and description

    • Audio transcription (if audio was captured at the time of the flag)

    • Proctor annotations or notes added during the live session

Sharing a Session

If you identify a serious integrity concern and need a second opinion or want to escalate for review you can use the Share Session feature.

Sharing sends the recipient temporary access to view the session — it does not transfer ownership or allow them to modify any data. For more details on this feature, click HERE.
