Overview

The Share Session feature allows authorized users to securely share a recorded proctoring session with others via a temporary access link. This is useful for reviewing potential academic integrity concerns, collaborating with colleagues, or escalating cases for further review.

In this article, you will learn:

  • About share session

  • How to share a session

  • How to access a shared session

  • Helpful tips and recommendations

About Share Session

Instructors, proctors, or administrators have access to review testing sessions and can thus create a shared session link. Students do not have access to session recordings and cannot use the Share Session feature.

To use the Share Session feature you must first open the session viewer.

You can access the Session Viewer from multiple places, including:

  • Student overview pages

  • Incident reports

  • Record & review queues

As long as you are actively viewing a session recording, you will have access to the Share Session feature.

How to Share a Session

  1. Open the session recording in the Session Viewer

  2. Click the gear icon (settings menu)

  3. Select Share Session

  4. Click Create Share

  5. Complete the required fields:

    1. Share Name

      • A friendly label to help you identify the shared link later

    2. Email Address(es)

      • Enter one or more recipients (comma-separated)

    3. Comments (optional)

      • Add context or instructions for the recipient

    4. Expiration

      1. Select how long the recording should remain active

  6. Click Create

A confirmation message will appear, and the share will be added to your list.

Once the share is created it can be edited or deleted within the Share Session window.

How to Access a Shared Session

Each shared session generates a secure magic link that is sent via email to the recipient(s). If you receive such an email, open it promptly to access the recording.

The link provides direct access to the session recording and remains active until the selected expiration date; once the link is deleted or expires, it will no longer be accessible.

Each magic link is active for one hour for added security. If a link expires, a new one is automatically generated and sent to you via email once you click on it. This process can be repeated as needed for the duration of the share session parameters set by the original user.

Helpful Tips and Recommendations

  • Full recording only: Shared links always provide access to the entire session—partial clips or timestamp-specific playback are not supported.

  • Open the session first: You must be actively viewing the recording in the Session Viewer to create a share link. Sharing is not available from reports, emails, or other areas.

  • Send to multiple recipients: You can include multiple email addresses by separating them with commas.

  • No recipient limitations: Share links can be sent to anyone—there are no system restrictions on recipients.

  • Use clear naming conventions: Create descriptive share names to make links easier to identify and manage later.

  • Add helpful context: Include comments to guide reviewers to key moments or important details within the recording.

  • Set thoughtful expiration dates: Choose an expiration timeline that aligns with your review needs.

  • Maintain security: Delete share links once they are no longer needed within the Share Session window.

  • Download not supported: Session recordings cannot be downloaded to help ensure content security.
