Overview
Before you sit down for a proctored exam, we strongly encourage you to complete a Readiness Check. It only takes a few minutes and helps make sure everything runs smoothly when it actually counts.
In this article, you will learn:
What the Readiness Check is
How to access the Readiness Check
Whether Readiness Checks are all the same
What is the Readiness Check?
The Readiness Check simulates the onboarding experience you'll go through on exam day by: checking your computer, internet connection, and browser. This check uses the exact same settings as your actual exam. It does not connect to your real exam and is not recorded in any way.
Think of it as a practice run: it confirms your setup works, without directing you into the exam itself.
Why should I complete it?
Running the check ahead of time lets you catch and fix any technical issues (camera, microphone, browser extensions, internet connection, etc.) before it's time to test.
There are no academic consequences if something doesn't work as expected and that's exactly what the Readiness Check is for.
How Do I Access the Readiness Check?
You can access the Readiness Check in a few places:
At the start of the scheduling process: it appears on the modality screen.
When you select "Schedule" for a certain modality: a yellow callout will pop up encouraging you to complete the Readiness Check before your actual test.
After you've scheduled a test session: you can find it under the exam details, near "Manage Appointment."
Are All Readiness Checks the Same?
Not necessarily. Each Readiness Check mirrors the specific settings of the exam it's linked to. If you have multiple proctored exams (whether in the same course or over several courses), it's a good idea to complete a Readiness Check before each one. This will make sure your setup works with that exam's particular proctoring settings.
